Leadership Biography: David P. Hart

Hart Hotels, Inc.

David Hart is president and chief executive officer of Hart Hotels, Inc., Western New York's largest independent hotel management company owning and operating 11 hotels with 1,700 rooms in four states. Hart Hotels has franchise hotel affiliations with InterContinental Hotels Group, Hilton Inc. and US Franchise Systems, Inc. Hart Hotels is based in Buffalo, New York, where it owns and operates six hotels in the greater Buffalo area--including three Holiday Inn hotels, two Holiday Inn Express and Hotel and Suites and a Hampton Inn Hotel.

Operations outside of Buffalo include the Holiday Inn - Ithaca, New York; The Inn at Finger Lakes in Auburn, New York; the Hawthorn Suites Hotel, South Burlington, Vermont; the Yarrow Resort Hotel and Conference Center in Park City, Utah, "Home of the 2002 Winter Olympics;” and the Four Diamond Portland Harbor Hotel, in Portland, Maine.

Hart Property Management--an extension of Hart Hotels--manages the Lodge at Stillwater, a condominium hotel located at nearby Deer Valley, Utah. It also manages Ventures, an equity vacation club.

Born and raised in Buffalo, David attended LeMoyne College in Syracuse, New York on a basketball scholarship and continued his studies and athletics at the State University College of New York at Buffalo where he earned a BS degree in Business Administration. He was a Year 2000 inductee to the Buffalo State College Athletic Hall of Fame.

Professional volunteer positions include serving as 2005-2006 IAHI Chairman of the Board. David is a longtime member of the association and has served as a committee member and chairman of many standing committees and the Holiday Inn brand committee. He also is the immediate past Chairman of the Buffalo/Niagara Convention and Visitors Bureau.

David is also a trustee of St. Joseph's Collegiate Institute and a member of the Young Presidents Organization. He was a member of the inaugural graduating class of Leadership Buffalo and a past recipient of The Make-A-Wish Foundation's "Wish Maker" of the Year and Buffalo Business First's "Forty Under Forty" business and leadership award. David lives in Orchard Park, New York with his wife, Nancy, and three children.
