Leadership Biography: Mike Hembree

Born and raised in Oklahoma, Mr. Hembree graduated from the University of Oklahoma in 1979 earning a Bachelor of Business Administration, Marketing Degree.

Raised working in his family’s restaurant business, Mr. Hembree opened his own restaurant after graduating from college. Later, Mike participated with family investors to develop their first hotel. Today, Mr. Hembree and his family own and operate five limited service hotels in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, enjoying franchise relationships with Accor North America, Cendant, and Intercontinental Hotels Group.

Mr. Hembree is an enthusiastic community and industry volunteer. He has served on his local school board and as Chairman of the Oklahoma Hotel and Lodging Association. In addition to his duties on the IAHI Board of Directors, Mike currently serves on the Board of Advisors for the Oklahoma State University School of Hotel and Restaurant Administration, as the Political Action Committee Chair of the Oklahoma Hotel & Lodging Association and the Oklahoma Restaurant Association, and as Secretary of the Oklahoma Hospitality Foundation.

Mr. Hembree is a recent graduate of Leadership Oklahoma and the IAHI Leadership Institute.

Mike lives in Oklahoma City with his daughter and twin sons. He enjoys school activities and being a fan of the Oklahoma Sooners.
